Niagara is Ontario’s longest established wine region offering diverse terroir.
The Niagara Peninsula is the largest viticultural area in Canada and is most famous for it’s world-famous ice wines. The cool climate contributes to the uniqueness of wine grown in the region. Regional Appelations include Niagara Escarpment and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Sub-appelations include: Beamsville Bench, Creek Shores, Four Mile Creek, Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Lakeshore, Niagara River, Short Hills Bench, St. David’s Bench, Twenty Mile Bench and Vinemount Ridge.
Niagara boasts many of Ontario’s finest orchards, vineyards, greenhouses, and fruit and vegetable farms and is also home to heroine of the war and famous chocolatier Laura Secord.
Museums, art galleries, outstanding restaurants and B&Bs, make Niagara one of Ontario’s favourite places to visit.
